PowerTap Hydrogen Capital (NEO: MOVE) (FWB: 2K6) (OTC: MOTNF), through its wholly owned subsidiary PowerTap Hydrogen Fueling Corp., has completed the engineering design of the PowerTap Gen3. The new steam methane reformer (“SMR”) features significant improvements that increase the production of hydrogen by an improvement of heat transfer and decreases feedstock requirements and greenhouse emissions; the new design also extends the life of the SMR from 10 year to more than 15 years. According to the announcement, the proprietary SMR design will undergo prototype manufacturing to ensure its functionality; during the manufacturing process, the new design will be subject to revisions. The anticipated improvements will also be tested and amended as necessary during the process. PowerTap is currently making arrangements for the PowerTap Gen3 prototype unit to be made along with finalizing its pre-application information for its first three sites, which will be located in California; the company plans to submit those applications this summer. In preparation, PowerTap is coordinating its efforts with the California Hydrogen Business Council (“CHBC”) and the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (“GO-Biz”). “The incorporation of these major design changes to the current applications represent significant improvement in the production of hydrogen today,” said PowerTap Fueling chief operating officer Kelley Owen in the press release.
